Finally, in 2007, the long-awaited SLR Roadster was introduced. The carbon body had been further developed to achieve top-level torsional stiffness and a special challenge was the soft top which had to be totally adapted to the car’s 206mph top speed. The soft top has to be manually unlatched but after that, it’s fully electric and the crowd- pleasing signature scissor doors, that swing out and up on massive hydraulic struts, are similar to the Coupes This striking example dates from October 2008 and has only covered 2,964 miles since then. It was built to a USA specification and naturally, the speedometer and odometer read in miles. It’s finished in Crystal Black Metallic with silver Turbine alloys and a black soft top and the interior is superbly finished in Ivory and Carbon Black and, we understand, may well be unique to this car.
