With its dramatic doors, this was the ultimate supercar of its time whose very mention evokes memories of Grace Kelly and grainy black and white racing footage. It was the embodiment of half a century of Mercedes Motorsport pedigree and pleasingly, became the inspiration for a modern interpretation - the brand’s equally desirable SLS AMG model, launched in 2010. The successor to the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren, the SLS AMG was the first automobile designed and built from scratch entirely by AMG and had a limited production run from 2010-2015. Introduced at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show, AMG described the M159 563 hp engine as “the world’s most powerful naturally aspirated production series engine ever”. From 2013 to 2015, customers could order the high- performance variant of the SLS named SLS AMG Black Series. Notable changes over the SLS AMG included increased engine power to 631bhp along with a higher rev limit of 8,000rpm, fully revised high-speed valve train with modified camshafts, adapted cam geometry and optimised bucket tappets with a special coating normally used on racing engines. The Black Series is also 70kg lighter than the standard model as a result of the increased use of carbon fibre in the body panels, mechanical components, and the space frame. The combination of less weight and more power resulted in claimed performance figures of 0-97 kph in just 3.2 seconds. This, left-hand drive, SLS AMG Black Series has only delivery use and as such can be regarded as being in as new condition.
