Indeed, the specification of the XK150 S undoubtedly paved the way for the E-Type that replaced it in 1961. The S boasted triple SU carburettors, a revised Harry Weslake-modified cylinder head and a manual 4-speed overdrive transmission. The performance was seriously impressive for 1958, with an enhanced output of 250bhp and a top speed of 132 mph. Engine sizes were usually 3.4-litre but a much rarer 3.8-litre emerged towards the end of production, offering an impressive 265bhp and a top speed of 136mph. Four-wheel 12” Dunlop disc brakes became an option for the first time. In total, a mere 150 3.8 S Fixed Head Coupés rolled off the production line, and of these, a reported 111 were right-hand drive. In recent years, this car has formed part of a large Collection and has received little or no use, so an element of recommissioning is to be expected. Finished in black with a tan leather interior 445 AYN is showing some 43,760 miles on the odometer (not warranted). It’s fitted with chrome wire wheels, a period luggage rack and driving lights. It has had only three previous keepers prior to joining the Collection in 2014. An ideal candidate to recommission and enjoy, or alternatively fully restore. This car has formed part of an extensive collection of British and European Classics and your inspection is encouraged. More Details Lot 642 Bid On Lot 642
