246 The Classic Sale at Silverstone - Cars Registration: N/A Chassis No.: N/A Estimate: £24,000 - £28,000 Lot 526 1971 3.0 Capri MkI Competition Car Starting life as a 1971 3-litre MK 1, this competition Capri has been owned by its enthusiastic vendor since 2005 when he purchased it from a fellow Classic Touring Car Racing Club member and during his ownership has enjoyed much success in Post Historic Pre- 1974 Touring Cars with outright wins, class wins and an overall Championship win in 2006. Motive power is courtesy of a 3,100cc Ric Wood Motorsport race engine (two meetings-old after being refreshed) coupled to a 3000, 4-speed gearbox with Quaife close-ratio, straight-cut internals. The specification also includes Tony Law race manifolds and exhaust, limited-slip diff, AVO race suspension, gas dampers with external cylinders and two-way bump and rebound adjustment. Retardation is aided by AP front callipers with vented discs and the front brakes are adjustable for bias. Internally, it’s fitted with a full roll cage and racing seat.
