Dating certificate listing dealer information is with the bike • Totally rebuilt by a well-respected race car engineer known to Silverstone • 750cc Norton P11 engine, twin carbs, Norton hubs and Roadholder forks • Really well presented in Candy Apple Red with high-level pipes and a Bates US racing seat • Lots of history and a photo file of the rebuild Following the handful of G15s built for export only in 1962 and fitted with AMC’s own 750cc engine, the concept was revived in the middle of the decade using the Norton Atlas engine in the existing G12CSR frame. By this time Norton production had been shifted to AMC’s Plumstead factory, and in a further move towards product rationalisation, the new G15 roadster was fitted with Norton hubs and Roadholder forks. CSR sports roadsters and trail-styled CS models followed soon after, and these Norton-powered models were the only AMC twins left in production by the end of 1966. Manufacture ceased the following year and today these relatively rare AMC/Norton hybrids are becoming increasingly collectable. The street scrambler styling of the CS model aimed directly at the American market meant examples are not often seen here in Europe and coupled with the fact that they were only produced for three years makes them a rare bike indeed. This smart example dates from 1967 and by the time of the sale our vendor anticipates finding the Dealer Certificate which will date it accurately. It has been totally rebuilt by ex-Lola race engineer, John Bright, with his customary attention to detail. Most of these bikes ended up in the States so it’s fitting that he has chosen to finish it in a very American shade of Candy Apple Red with high-level pipes and a Bates US racing seat. Presented in first-class condition, this is a really fine example of what is a great alternative 60s British classic. The performance and handling alone make them a joy to ride and, in this case, all the hard work has been done.
