The design featured more integrated bumpers and a host of mechanical changes, most significant of which was the availability of four-wheel drive. The displacement was now up to 3,600cc producing 250bhp, power steering and ABS brakes were now fitted as standard and the torsion bar rear suspension was replaced with coil springs and shock absorbers. Careful attention to the aerodynamics reduced the drag coefficient down to 0.32 and with virtually zero lift, stability and road holding at high speed were greatly improved. A new feature was the retractable spoiler which automatically extended at 50mph and in addition to seriously increasing downforce, also doubled the volume of cooling air fed into the engine compartment. Fitted with a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard, most variants were reputed to be capable of 0-60mph in 5.3 seconds with a top speed of over 160mph. The delightful four-wheel drive Carrera on offer here is a UK-supplied, right-hand drive example first registered on 25th September 1989 and is finished in the classic combination of Guards Red with a lovely Linen Leather interior. Our lucky custodian knew of the car for many years and seized the opportunity to obtain it when the time was right back in October 2022 after 18 years in dry storage. Since that time, the car has been thoroughly and painstakingly gone through from top to bottom with perfect attention to detail. It was found that the flat-six had a slight running issue, so this was rebuilt by Greatworth Classics at a cost of just over £17,000. Initially, the car had a visit to JGC Porsche prior to Greatworth but our vendor preferred the overall experience of Greatworth as a business, and they subsequently refurbished the suspension and all associated bushes along with a 4-wheel alignment at a further £2,674. Our vendor has his own high-quality refinishing centre so the car was then duly stripped right back with all windows out and treated to a fresh coat of Guards Red, at the same time adding some RS door mirrors (originals are with the car and also freshly painted). Systematically the car was built up with all new seals, leaving nothing to chance. Bilstein suspension was fitted to all four corners, the calipers were re-built, new discs fitted and the alloys fully refurbished with a brand new set of branded tyres. The car now benefits from a modern Porsche PCCM in-car entertainment system offering Bluetooth, SatNav and DAB, bringing this stunning Porsche into the 21st century. Having covered just 49,800 miles from new and now split-pin sharp, this outstanding 964 literally requires nothing other than a new owner to love and cherish it. Totally refreshed 964 Carrera 4, superbly presented in Guards Red and Linen Leather with less than 50,000 miles from new. More Details Lot 908 Bid On Lot 908
