197 + buyers premium of 12.5% plus VAT (15% incl VAT) on the first £300,000 of the hammer and 10% plus VAT (12% incl VAT) thereafter A luxury SUV has become the must-have vehicle in the driveway, and with a plethora of contenders, perhaps none of them have generated quite as much interest as the new G-Wagen and, in particular, the Mercedes-AMG G63. For the first time since it’s conception in the late 1970s, the G-Class has been fully re-engineered from the ground up. With reduced weight, increased stiffness and strength and a totally redesigned suspension and off road system it gives a much more sure-footed handling experience than previous generations. Despite huge technical advancements in both driveability as well as comfort and luxury, the G63 has managed to maintain much of its character and appeal from the boxy design to the satisfyingly solid clunk when you close the doors. All the characteristic features remain including the bonnet mounted indicators, exposed hinges and side-exit exhaust, which continue to give this 4x4 a unique style and utilitarian charm. In addition to their state of the art drivetrain and suspension technology and some cosmetic enhancements, AMG’s contribution to the party is the G63’s elemental twin-turbo 4.0-litre V8 which delivers a remarkable 575bhp and 627lb/ft through its 9-speed gearbox and four-wheel drive. Despite weighing in at 2,560kg and sporting the dimensions of a modest country cottage, 100kph arrives in 4.5 seconds on the way to 140mph, and more if de-restricted. Milton Keynes-based Urban Automotive are “Creators and Modifiers of the most distinctive vehicles on the planet”. Over the years they have developed styling/performance/function packages for every luxury brand and their ethos of “Road Presence Redefined” describes their work exactly. This AMG G63 was purchased by them on behalf of a client in early 2021, however things didn’t work out quite as planned. The Mercedes option list, when it was first ordered, had been very well ticked and totalled 116 entries, far too many to list here, but included AMG Ride Control, ESP, Parktronic, Sunroof, 360 deg. Camera, Switchable Exhaust, AMG Speedshift (a full list is available for interested parties). Finished in Obsidian Black, the car arrived new at Urban to be fitted with what appears to be their G-Wagen ‘Soft Kit’ which included a Front Splitter, Upper Wing Spoiler, Roof Light Cluster, Rear Wheel Carrier, Bullnose Bonnet, Black Wheel Nuts, 23” Urban UC-1 Alloys and URBAN lettering. Unfortunately their client, a well known figure in the music business, changed her mind and cancelled the order leaving Urban with a rather expensive asset to add to their current stock list. Our vendor, however, had expressed an interest in commissioning an Urban-prepared 4x4 and the year-long waiting list meant that he hadn’t committed at that point so, a quick phone call from Urban letting him know that this car was unexpectedly available, proved fortuitous. CF21 USE was first registered on 16th June 2021 and was delivered to our vendor in early August with 30 miles on the odometer. The car has now covered around 7,300 miles and is reluctantly being offered for sale as a very exciting property purchase has arrived and that’s now a priority. He has enjoyed the car immensely particularly its ‘go- anywhere’ abilities and stylish yet subtle road presence. With similar models retailing at around £200,000 and more, this gleaming G63 seems sensibly guided and we welcome and encourage your inspection of this fabulous motor car.
