The show starred David Hasselhoff as Michael Knight, a high-tech modern crime fighter assisted by KITT, an advanced artificially intelligent, self-aware and nearly indestructible car. The car used as KITT in the series was a customized 1982 Pontiac Firebird sports model that cost about US$100,000 (each) to build (equivalent to about $275,000 in 2019). The nose, dash and other interior aspects of the car were designed by the well-known design consultant Michael Scheffe. We understand that a total of 19 cars were used over the four seasons and 90 episodes, however, 14 of these were destroyed during or after production leaving 5 which we understand were stripped of their interiors. All 5 have been rebuilt and have found owners in the States with apparently one of the most used cars recently being offered for 5 million dollars. Should owning a replica of KITT be on your bucket list we found several dozen for sale in the US for anywhere between $35 and $100,000, but there is no longer any need to cross the pond as we have one right here. This example is based on a 1983 5.7-litre Pontiac Trans Am with a four-speed auto box and was purchased from CH Auto Corporation Miami Florida and imported into the UK in February 2016. We understand that it starts, runs and drives but is not UK road registered, taxed or MOT’d although road registration may be possible if it could be modified sufficiently to get an MOT. Sold as seen and offered as a fabulous piece of Movie Memorabilia. 1983 Pontiac Trans-Am ‘Knight Rider’ KITT Homage LOT 225 More Images Lot 225 Bid On Lot 225
