The design of the 612 is said to have been inspired by the 1954 Rossellini-Bergman custom 375MM, which was commissioned by film director Roberto Rossellini for his lovely wife, the actress Ingrid Bergman. The model features large side scallops and headlights together with a long, sleek silhouette and the result is an imposing, unusual looking car, projecting dynamism and power. This sporty front-engine, rear-wheel drive Berlinetta is a paradox Ferrari, being an energetic car to drive, yet also having four full seats for passengers, making it suitable for longer journeys and city use too. A genuine departure from previous GT models, the 612 Scaglietti’s transaxle transmission sees the rear-mounted, six-speed, F1 gearbox working with the limited-slip differential in a shared function and this, combined with the first ever all-aluminium body in a 12-cylinder Ferrari, makes for fantastic dynamics as well as improved comfort and safety. Finished in stunning Grigio Titanio Metallizzato with a black leather interior piped in white, this immaculate 612 F1 was supplied new in right-hand drive by PJ Evans in the West Midlands to its first lucky owner, Paul Naden in Stockport. Judging by the substantial history file, it would appear that it has been fastidiously looked after all its life and always kept in a heated garage. The service record is festooned with the best names in the business, Stratstone, Joe Macari, Graypaul, Grimaldi and Terry Keys with service and maintenance bills in excess of £30,000 in the last 10 years alone. The suspension and brakes have all been replaced in the past and in 2020 the car benefitted from a cambelt service, upper wishbones, front ball joints, the LAMBDA sensor and two rear tyres. Its most recent service was in April 2022 and the Ferrari was MOT’d at the same time. The current indicated mileage is 37,204. On offer from meticulous ownership, this really is a lovely example and is almost certainly the best currently on the market. We welcome any inspection of this low mileage 612 Scaglietti.
