80 The Shuttleworth Motorcycle Sale 2023 Lot 632 c.1960 James Captain L20 199cc • Based in Greet in Birmingham, James produced a range of small motorcycles using Villiers engines but struggled against the Japanese competition and ceased trading in 1966 • They first adopted the ‘Captain’ name for their 200cc model for 1950 and both the cycle parts and engine would be upgraded periodically as the years passed • This James Captain, powered by a AMC 10E 199cc two-stroke, is presented in good overall condition • Recently restored to its current condition and in running order • Complete with a UK V5C Ubiquitous AMC two-stroke lightweight recently refreshed.
